Important Update Regarding Your Blackboard ConnectTxt Product

We have made the decision to discontinue support and service for your two-way messaging product, Blackboard ConnectTxt, effective July 31, 2020. This decision is part of our effort to reinvest resources into products with broader capabilities and adoption.

ConnectTxt FAQs:

Q: Why are you discontinuing ConnectTxt?

A: We decided to discontinue ConnectTxt so we can reinvest resources into products with broader capabilities and adoption.

Q: When will the service be discontinued?

A: ConnectTxt will be discontinued on July 31, 2020.

Q: Can I purchase more message packs?

A: Due to the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19, we anticipate you will have continued needs for communication. As a result, we are extending our deadline for purchasing message packs through July 31, 2020. ConnectTxt is still on track to be discontinued on July 31, 2020. Message packs must be used by July 30, 2020 and there will be no refunds for any unused messages.

Q: Will I get a refund for unused messages or message packs?

A: No, messages remaining on July 30, 2020 will expire.

Q: Is Blackboard offering a replacement service? What other products can we recommend?

A: We understand customers may want a replacement service for ConnectTxt. We don’t have an official partnership with any of the following services, but they may be potential vendors that customers can evaluate.

Q: What will happen to the address book, sent and received data within our account?

A: All data will remain accessible to you within the software through the end of your contract term.  Per GDPR guidelines, client data shall be kept for no longer than is necessary. Once the contract term has expired we’ll begin a data deletion process to scrub any PII from our servers.

Q: Our contract ends after July 31st, 2020. What will happen to our account/license?

A: We will be processing a credit for the software license that was contracted beyond July 31, 2020.  Access to the service will be terminated after July 31, 2020.

Q: Our account is in arrears for messages. Do we have to pay for the indebit?

A: Yes, all fees owed must be paid.

Q: Can I port my long number/shortcode to another provider?

A: No, it will not be possible to port the number/s you have rented as part of your license to another provider.

Q: What will happen to my message history?

A: Message history will continue to be available through the end of your agreement or July 30, 2020, whichever is sooner. There is an export feature from within the account (addressbook, groups and template data only). The client can contact support for further guidance.
